Maybe it is a sign of the times, of affluence, or simply modernization. Whatever, it seems Americans are especially prone to the "disease," otherwise known as the "Quick Fix."
For examples, consider:
Emotional Advertising
Media
TV flashes of a second or so piled on flashes so fast only an emotional impression survives the message. Do these advertisers want us to blindly follow our gut reaction to a bikini when it is an inferior auto (or whatever) for sale? If not, why the hurry and focus on visceral reaction. |
Media
With the huge torrents of news from all quarters, the sheer mass of it cannot be dealt with in any comprehensive way at any one time. We at this site are inundated like everyone else. We too are tempted by the "Quick Fix." |
So it should be no surprise that the US public thirsts for the quick fix for terror, meaning a year or two. Yet there is now abundant evidence that reaching a state of peace on earth will take at least a generation or two.
Is this a disconnect or what?
